One of these people is Interim Director of Leadership Experience and Programs Nessa Julian. Her personality has allowed her to grow close relationships with Poets over the years. She is involved with student leadership and activity on campus.

PDA, for some who may not know, stands for public display of affection. Usually, it is not too much of a problem with a quick kiss or holding of each other’s hands, but it definitely starts to raise an eyebrow once you witness two individuals who literally need to be pulled apart. That makes an awkward setting for any outsider watching two lovebirds in the middle of a smooch fest.

How many times have you encountered that couple in the grocery store picking out each other’s goods rather than what’s offered to them on the shelves? What about when you go to the movies and the couple behind you are adding their own soundtrack and version to the film?

College is a chapter where change occurs at every corner. An open mind set to meeting new friends and trying new foods is just as much a part of the class schedule as any other class. Learning to eat healthily and maintain their best form is a separate challenge that many students struggle with. An option that some students take is changing eating styles and adapting with alternative habits. This option is far more difficult than not consuming at certain times; it requires an entire lifestyle overhaul.

The Whittier College cross-country team made their way to first place this past Saturday, Sep 18 in Ontario at the Mills College Invitational. The college is a Division 3 school and was competing with NIA and Division 2 schools. Both the men's and women's teams came out on top and have set the season's moral at an ultimate high. Coach Philips stated that the entire team, including himself had no idea of what to expect. "We were unsure of who would show to compete with us." The men ran an 8k course and were led by junior Travis Airola in fifth place. Another three Poets finished in the top ten, which rewarded the team with a total of 36 points. First-year Hayden Schmidt placed in seventh and was soon followed by junior Marco Leone in ninth place and senior Sean Arps in tenth.
