Orange County just got a little more tasty. A new style of gourmet street food is cooking up in the city of Brea with the recent opening of Bruxie Gourmet Waffle Sandwiches.
With their first location being a hit in the City of Orange, this burger joint is sure to have success at their new location.

So what is a Bruxie? So what is so different about these burgers? What makes the waiting in a 20-minute line just order so worth the wait? A “Bruxie” is a Belgian-style waffle. It is light and crisp and has a little sweet taste.

Bruxie’s burgers do not use hamburger buns. They use waffles instead. Yes, waffles!
I was surprised myself when I found out that each one of their gourmet handcrafted burgers is made on a classic waffle. I mean I have heard of waffle fries—they are really just regular fries shaped like waffles.

Well, this is not the case here; they are not using a regular hamburger bun shaped like a waffle. It is a homemade, sweet waffle all right. Their menu is short, but they have a variety of burgers to choose from. For the non-red meat eaters there is the salmon and dill cream cheese sandwich and a grilled cheese. To be a little conservative, go with the classic Bruxie burger made with Angus beef, cheddar cheese, sliced tomatoes, crisp lettuce, pickles and mayo.

After looking over the menu and the mouth-watering wait, I decided to go with the roasted mushroom and goat cheese burger.

The burger is priced at $8.95, but that is only after I added the sundried tomato. The burger does not come with waffle fries, but you can them for $2.50. If you are going with a friend, the fries are big enough to share. To my surprise, the wait to actually bite into this waffle burger was short, but as I sat there waiting I noticed the same look one everyone’s faced when they received there food from the server. How do I eat this? After looking at the burger for a couple of seconds I could not help but to just dig right in. The burger was excellent, and the texture was different. Bruxies fresh ingredients and daily specials will have me going back.
