Your life is what you make of it, and the more you shut out new experiences outside of your comfort zone, the smaller your life will be. Open your mind to new experiences though, and your horizons expand indefinitely. If you attend Whitter College, you should strive for the latter. Use this liberal arts educational experience to broaden your life view and experience things you usually would not.

There are many ways you can expand your horizons. The most notable at Whittier College might be studying abroad. Traveling to a locale which you have never visited before and becoming immersed in it is a life experience that forever changes your life views. Being able to live in a different culture, and having the ability to see the world from a different point of view is certainly something you do not get from reading textbooks. Make use of the resources and time available to you during your time here.

Even if studying abroad is not for you, there are many other ways to expand your horizons. For instance you can simply go to new places in Southern California that you have never visited before. Los Angeles itself is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world; with so many different people of different cultures and backgrounds residing in the same city, there are endless adventures to be had.

Whether you read a book that explores politics or philosophies that you don’t agree with, or you explore locales you never thought you would visit, there are a multitude of ways in which one can expand their horizons. The world is vast. Experience as much of it as you can in this lifetime.
