This year’s Stauffer/Johnson (StoJo) Party took the stage for the first-years Tuesday, Sep. 7. With music blasting in the background, groups of students of all ages from first-years to seniors, scattered throughout the Stauffer and Johnson courtyard to enjoy free food, meet new people and dance.
Familiar faces were present when the party first began. Society members and upperclassman were at the event enjoying themselves on the dance floor. Later that night more and more first-years started to appear.

StoJo was not any different from previous years, when first-years arrived they were welcomed with refreshments inside the Stauffer lounge, music, and snow cones. Also society members introduced themselves and passed out goodies to the first-yearwhile they were enjoying the music that DJ Ren Lopez was blasting. “It’s really cool,” first-year Casandra Leyba said. “And it’s helped me to feel comfortable with people around me.”

Many other students said that they had an amazing time at StoJo and had good feelings about Whittier. “It’s fun. I pretty much started it. And it’s helped me to adjust and make new friends,” first-year Amanda Albert said. Other students had more to say about Whittier and expressed that orientation was very informative and it helped them feel confident about starting classes. “I love the campus, the food is good and there are a lot of opportunities,” Albert said.

All attendees relaxed, hung out and were easy-going at the event. The StoJo party was a great night of socializing, dancing, having fun with friends, eating free food and getting acquainted with the incoming first-years. “It’s helped me to adjust and make new friends,” Albert said.
