The Women’s soccer team lost 1-0 in a narrow loss to the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The Poets offense struggled to produce chances and the defense was kept busy all night by a continual offensive barrage on the part of the Athenas. This loss to a SCIAC opponent marks the fourth consecutive conference loss which drops their reccord to 3-7-2 (1-6-1 SCIAC).

Earlier in the week the Poets hosted the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct 9. The game was decided in the 35th minute when Pomona-Pitzer scored off a corner kick for the first and final goal of the game. Pomona-Pitzer stayed stingy on defense and kept a clean sheet holding on for the 1-0 win. The Poets were held to seven shots for the length of the game while the Sagehens used ball movement and speed to set up a total of 20 shots. First-year midfielder Emma Krieger developed the most scoring opportunities for the Poets getting off a total of two shots.

The Poets are slated to host La Verne on Saturday, October 16 at 11 a.m. and look to recover from their four game losing streak.
