Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 QCTV separated from the Quaker Campus to become their own organization within Media Council.

“We are really excited for this new opportunity,” General Director of QCTV and senior Kaitlin Cassidy said. “I am proud of the group we have and hope this will give us more credibility and exposure.”

QCTV began the process of become its own organization in the fall semester of 2011 by meeting with former Director of LEAP Nessa Julian, Advisor of the Quaker Campus and Adjunct Professor of Journalism Gary Libman and Editor-in-Chief of the Quaker Campus junior Katie Jenkins-Moses to discuss becoming a separate organization. After getting the support from all three, Cassidy had to gain 50 signatures from the student body along with getting approved by both Media Council and Inter-Club Council (ICC).

QCTV has come a long way since its inception in 2009, founded by alumni Joshua Wood (’10) and Yasmin Khorram (’10). In the beginning, QCTV videos were produced whenever the founders had time. In the 2009-2010 school year, the organization was more structured and videos were being released more consistently on a weekly basis. This year they progressed even more, moving into their own office and getting equipment rather than using personal materials that members could spare. Within three years the staff has grown from five to 18 staff members.
