On Sunday, Feb. 5, Whittier students gathered together in the student lounge to participate in the most watched event of the year: the Super Bowl. The student lounge was decked out with extra T.V.s, speakers and not to mention plenty of free pizza and snacks. The event was put on by the collaborative efforts of the Christian Poets and the Kinesiology Club.

“We decided to set up this event because what better way to bring the students of Whittier College together than to watch the Super Bowl?” junior Kelly Maguire said. Maguire, the president of the Christian Poets, pitched the idea to have a Super Bowl get together to the Kinesiology Club because many of its members have intended majors in the field of sports medicine.

About 60 people attended this event, enjoyed the food, watched the game, and overall enjoyed each other’s company. “The whole point of this event was to bring Whittier students together as a community,” senior Jennifer Rivas said.
