Whittier committed 20 turnovers and let Cabrini shoot 58 times as the Poets men’s lacrosse fell 13-1 against No. 18 Cabrini. The loss drops the Poets to 3-5 on the season and extends their losing streak to three games. Whittier got the opening goal of the game when first-year midfielder Kevin Looney connected off a pass from first-year attacker Taylor Dean.

Whittier took the lead with only one minute left to play in the first quarter but Cabrini equalized with two seconds left on the clock. Whittier staved off a heavy battery of Cabrini offense early in the second quarter, but Cabrini opened the floodgates after taking the lead with five and a half minutes left in the quarter and ended the half ahead 4-1, scoring 3 more in the second quarter.

They then trailed 9-1 going into the final quarter of play and could not stymie up a comeback. Junior Goalkeeper Robert Bazlen had a career high 25 saves on 58 Cabrini shots. Whittier was also plagued with 20 turnovers, 11 more than the nine that Cabrini recorded.

The Poets next game is on Friday, April 22, at 4 p.m. on the road against Ohio Wesleyan and then two days after will take on Wooster at 9 a.m..
